This week, my students of sixth grade have been working during their Emotional Education class on values: appreciation and gratitude. We shared some moments of reflection where the students followed a “Meditation of gratitude” toward the person that they thought had helped them in life. During this activity, students sent that person wishes of wellness (which is scientifically proven that leads to reducing levels of stress and depression, as well as increases levels of happiness). Students shared the emotions that they had felt by doing this activity with me and their classmates. To conclude, we saw a clip of the movie “Pay it Forward” where a social studies teacher gives an assignment to his junior high school class to think of an idea to change the world into a better place and then put it into action. My students will think of an idea to change their particular environment as a gratitude action. We will wait until next week to hear their proposals!
